Isuzu enters collaboration agreement to promote digital transformation of regional transportation centered autonomous mobility in Hiratsuka City

On January 19, Isuzu Motors Limited (Isuzu) became a new signatory to an agreement previously reached by Hiratsuka City and four other parties to collaborate on digital transformation (DX) in regional public transportation. The agreement, which focuses on autonomous-driving services in Hiratsuka City, Kanagawa was originally signed on April 7, 2023 by Hiratsuka City, Kanagawa Chuo Kotsu Co., Ltd., Mitsubishi Corporation, Aisan Technology Co., Ltd., and A-Drive Inc.

Isuzu is committed to driving innovation through DX in order to address issues faced by society and the logistics industry. Isuzu aims to commercialize autonomous driving solutions, demonstrating that is values align with all five parties that are part of this agreement.

Under the terms of this agreement, the six signatories today unveiled a autonomous proof of concept (PoC) bus in Hiratsuka City that shall take advantage of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism's program for supporting projects that improve regional public transportation. We look forward demonstrating the commercial potential of this autonomous-driving solution.

  2. The objective of the six-party agreement is to help revitalize Japan's regional communities by offering public transportation services that are convenient, accessible and sustainable. This will be achieved through close collaboration, initiatives that effectively leverage respective resources, and DX-centered, next-generation mobility solutions that focus on autonomous technology applications.
