K.K.  Powertrain Product Planning & Engineering Dept. No.3 / Industrial Solutions & Powertrain Business Division

A company where you can hold constructive discussions as equals
Tell us about your job?

My job is to advance projects for 4HK1/6HK1 engines installed in light- and medium-duty trucks for emerging markets. Specifically, my role is to lead various departments as a core member of the project, such as by coordinating with related departments and managing schedules for the development of engines.

Why did you choose to work at Isuzu?

Unlike passenger cars, trucks are mainly used to get work done and need to be highly practical. As I considered different automotive manufacturers when searching for a job, I felt that Isuzu was sincerely addressing those practical needs, and this steadiness as a company is what led me to apply.

What do you like about Isuzu?

The Fujisawa Plant is the main site for design and development, and related departments, for powertrains and vehicle bodies alike, are gathered in one place. This allows us to hold constructive, face-to-face discussions. If we have any concerns, we can consult people around us as equals, regardless of age or career experience, which I'm always grateful for. I think this is one of Isuzu's attractive points.

When do you feel a sense of job satisfaction? What do you find interesting about your job?

My work involves developing engines, the heart of any vehicle. I take pride in that as I work every day. It's truly rewarding.

Please tell us about your "I Do Declaration."

Each and every employee is working to fulfill the ideals of ISUZU ID and change behavior as part of their own "I Do Declaration."

My I Do Declaration is to "always anticipate how the engine will be used in the market when I'm developing the product."
I say this because, during the design and development stages, we're often looking at models and data, but what we're making is goods that will be actually produced and used in the market by our customers. We must never forget that.

What actions will you take to be No.1 in one of the four areas outlined in ISUZU ID?

To achieve No.1 in Customer Satisfaction, I will maximize coordination with related departments and aim to develop the best engines that meet the needs of our customers across the world.

"Mutual Respect" is a central element of ISUZU ID's core value. How do you promote mutual respect?

I often organize meetings and act as a facilitator, and even when discussions grow heated, I feel that each project member takes care to listen to the other person's opinion until the end before speaking up.
I believe this comes from relationships of trust and mutual respect that are built during day-to-day interactions. It leads to listening to the other person's opinions first before speaking one's own mind.

How has Isuzu changed and how are you trying to change?

I feel that various actions are being taken to change Isuzu since ISUZU ID was announced, such as holding divisional town hall meetings and launching Viva Engage (an internal social media platform). I also think the new HR system will change each individual's work and level of awareness. To spread that further, I want to actively participate in events and movements that encourage young members to take the initiative and positively influence our surroundings.
