- The foundation of the Isuzu truck — Built in the wake of the Great Kanto Earthquake
- In 1923, the Great Kanto Earthquake struck immediately after the start of efforts to manufacture the first domestically produced Wolseley CP 1.5-ton truck. The destruction of the quake, which resulted in most blueprints and tools being damaged or lost, almost caused production plans for the truck to be scrapped. However, in response to the social importance placed upon establishing a national automobile production industry, manufacturing efforts were quickly resumed. By utilizing the original factory, despite its caved-in roof, as well as what drawings and tools that remained, production of the truck was completed the following year of 1924, giving this vehicle the distinction of being the first domestically produced truck.
