Isuzu, Transtron and Fujitsu to embark on the development of platform for connecting commercial vehicle data

Isuzu Motors Limited (headquartered in Shinagawa, Tokyo; Masanori Katayama, President and Representative Director; hereinafter Isuzu), Transtron Inc. (headquartered in Yokohama, Kanagawa; Mizuyasu Hayashi, President; hereinafter TTI) and Fujitsu Limited (headquartered in Minato, Tokyo; Takahito Tokita, CEO & CDXO; hereinafter Fujitsu) commence the work to establish a platform for connecting commercial vehicle data. It is a new information infrastructure to be built for commercial vehicles to provide advanced fleet management system and uptime support service.
The platform for connecting commercial vehicle data allows for integration of data remotely collected by Isuzu and TTI from their customers in regards to conditions and locations of about 500,000 commercial vehicles. With this new platform in place, three companies aim to generate synergy effects by combining Isuzu's expertise in effective use of vehicle data through its PREISM, advanced genuine maintenance program and MIMAMORI, a telematics for commercial vehicles, TTI's proven cloud-based operation support system and Fujitsu's latest DX technologies (cloud service, connected service). Through this, the companies will address various challenges the transportation industry is facing today and strive to offer new services within 2022.

- Isuzu was among the first to develop connected technologies for commercial vehicles and began to offer MIMAMORI on-line service, a telematics for commercial vehicles, as early as 2004. In 2015, an information communication terminal was built in as a standard feature on the heavy-duty truck GIGA, and ] Isuzu launched PREISM, an advanced genuine maintenance program enabled by vehicle data at the same time. Further, the information communication terminal was added on to the light-duty truck ELF and the medium-duty truck Forward in 2018 and 2019 respectively, and this led all the truck series to come equipped with the connected features. Isuzu currently provides a wide range of services using data remotely collected from 300,000 connected trucks.
With the help of FUJITSU Hybrid IT Service FJcloud, a Fujitsu's cloud service system, TTI offers a fleet support service using its networked in-vehicle terminal. It enables to complete daily operations logs using recorded data and display real-time videos captured by a driving recorder from anywhere. TTI currently assists the daily operations of commercial truck and bus operators by monitoring about 200,000 vehicles.
Fujitsu provides a variety of innovative IT technologies such as a proprietary communication network, cloud technology and data analysis. The company not only offers digital solutions but also effectively uses data to bring value to businesses in the supply chain and society at large.

- In addition to providing an advanced fleet management system and uptime support service using data on the operation status and conditions of commercial vehicles, the three companies will provide a streamlined system by integrating various data received from core systems developed by freight owners, fleet operators, warehouse proprietors, among others in order to solve multiple challenges the transportation industry is currently facing. Moreover, through the integration of information platforms beyond industries, the companies aim to create new solutions. As a data platform for commercial vehicles, it will not only provide a framework for EMS (Energy Management System) which will become essential to adapt to the predicted increase in electric vehicles, but also act as a database which helps to realize a carbon-neutral, decarbonized society.
