The FL-4 is a study model developed to define the performance of reliability to be demanded of trucks in the future. Addressing this crucial theme, design blueprints were mobilized to pursue the environmental responses, economic efficiency, safe performance and ergonomic excellence for trucks over the years to come.

The large skirt-shaped bumpers serve as crash zones upon collision, and are built prevent passenger cars from slipping under the truck. In addition, the forward leaning angle of the windshield serves to secure safe space for the driver. |

In these and other ways, the FL-4 showcases the further evolution instilled by Isuzu in the "FL-1/FL-10" concept presented at the previous Tokyo Motor Show for Commercial Vehicles (in 2000).
