6.6-liter V8 Direct Injection Diesel
This clean, direct-injection, engine has been developed to provide more power to the next-generation GM full-sized pickups. An engine with large displacement, it achieves a light and compact configuration by design features such as an aluminum cylinder-head and housing the turbocharger between the cylinder-head banks. Superb fuel combustion has enabled the 4-valve system and the common-rail fuel injection system. Integrating these features, the unit provides excellent fuel economy, cleaner exhaust emissions, high power and torque along with excellent fuel economy. Moreover, precision control of fuel injection and pilot injection allows the engine to achieve low noise and low vibration levels that you would expect from a gasoline engine. 3-liter V6 Direct Injection Diesel Isuzu developed this direct-injection diesel to drive next-generation SUVs and the passenger cars. A compact and lightweight engine with an aluminum body and cylinder-head can also be installed in FWD cars. The common-rail type high-pressure fuel injection system and DOHC 24-valve design ensure output with power to spare, excellent fuel economy and cleaner emissions. Besides the smooth performance of the engine, which is characteristic of the V6 configuration, the use of advanced technologies such as pilot injection and fuel-injection tuning by cylinder produces extremely quiet performance with low vibration. 1.7-liter 4-cylinder In-line Direct Injection Diesel This is the next-generation DOHC 16-valve direct-injection diesel with an intercooler-equipped turbocharger. Isuzu has started supplying this engine for Adam Opel passenger cars. By using a newly configured electronically controlled high-pressure injection pump which ensures precision control during fuel injection, engine fuel economy has been improved by 20% over previous models. Moreover, the engine is quiet and performs smoothly whether idling or accelerating, thanks to the use of pilot injection and two-stage valve-pressure nozzles. The engine meets the exceptionally stringent EC2000 regulations, further evidence of how clean it runs. # # #
