The latest technologies - the world's first closed-deck cylinder block of diecast aluminum, common-rail fuel injection system, 4-valve DOHC and variable nozzle turbocharger - come together in the 6DE1 diesel. This V-type, 6-cylinder, 3-liter direct-injection engine is already mounted on Saab and Renault.

Closed-deck cylinder block of diecast aluminum
- the world's first for diesels
Isuzu's V6 diesel engine is light and compact due to its aluminum cylinder block. With high output and torque, this engine is perfect for a variety of vehicles around the world. Computer-aided engineering was used extensively to refine the closed-deck aluminum cylinder block, which is cast in aluminum under high pressure for superior durability. Despite its small size and light weight, the Isuzu V6 diesel can be counted on for reliable performance and quiet operation. Moreover, existing casting and assembly lines can be used in its manufacture, making mass production possible.

Output and torque equivalent
to gasoline engines
By integrating today's latest technologies, output as high as 130kW (177PS) and torque of 350Nm (35.7kg.m) were achieved for versatility and power equivalent to gasoline engines. Acceleration at high engine speeds is especially smooth.

Meets strict EURO 3* emission regulations
New technologies such as a linear-solenoid type EGR valve and EGR cooler are responsible not only for the engine's high output, but also for fuel-efficient operation and reduction of combustion noise. Precise EGR control and an oxidization catalyst enable 3-liter class passenger cars to meet the EURO 3 emission standards, which also require good fueleconomy of 8.4l/100km.

*EURO 3 is one of the most strict emission standards in Europe enforced in October 2000.
